Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, Vancouver saw homicides increase by 47% to 189% in 2020

Murder rates have exploded across the region.

Update: Some of the official 2020 homicide counts have risen since we first published this report. Correction: 1993 was not the deadliest year for Portland, 1987 was.

In the largest cities in the Pacific Northwest, Antifa & BLM were allowed people to riot over and over on a weekly or even daily basis. The riots are still going on now.

In 2020, Seattle had the highest number of homicides in twenty-six years, two of which occurred during the 24/7 Black Lives Matter “autonomous zone” protest that lasted for much of the month of June.

In 2019, Seattle had 31 homicides. In 2020, they had 50. (Some sources are claiming even higher numbers) An unbelievable 61% increase! This was the highest number of murders since 1994. Local media is saying half the victims were black despite the city being only 7% black. However, they don’t say anything about the race of the perpetrators. In 2019, 55.9% of homicide perpetrators nationwide, in which the race of the perp is known, were black.

Greg Taylor
Anais Valencia

Seattle’s most recent killing took place in front of the African American Museum. Greg Taylor, a black male, shot two women in the parking lot, killing 23-year-old Anais Valencia. Taylor died in a shootout with Seattle police immediately after. Far-left activists actually gathered to protest against the police on Taylor’s behalf. Valencia was studying to be a veterinarian.

In 2020, Portland had 54 homicides, a staggering 50% increase over 2019. Individual shootings in 2020 went up 127% compared to 2019. 2020 and 1993 are tied for the deadliest year in the history of the city.

Portland already had at least 7 homicides in January of 2021.

Tacoma also experienced the most homicides that the city has seen since the early 90s. The city had 18 homicides in 2018 and 21 in 2019. In 2020 there were 31, a 47% increase over the previous year.

Tacoma had three homicides in the first three weeks of 2021.

Spokane had the most insane increase of all. 2020 saw a 186% increase over 2019.

In early January the Spokane police reported 20 homicides for 2020, but said this could rise to 22.  They were still trying to determine if two incidents were suicides or murders. This was the highest number of homicides since 2002. In 2019 the city only had 7 homicides.

A few days ago a 16-year-old black male was shot and killed at a birthday party in Spokane. Local authorities blamed “the pandemic” for driving young teens to join gangs.

Meanwhile, across the border from the Seattle-Tacoma metro area is Vancouver, Canada. In 2019 Vancouver had 10 homicides, which was a five-year low. In 2020, Vancouver had 19, a 90% increase.
